LOCAL ACTION,
GLOBAL CHANGE
WHAT’S HAPPENING WHERE
Country Platforms are locally driven initiatives which allow national and international, and public and private sector stakeholders to collectively identify country-specific priorities and work together to address them.
As the issues faced by coffee farmers vary from country to country and sustainability efforts are often overlapping or fragmented, Country Platforms enable tailored solutions to local priorities and a more effective allocation of resources. Country Platforms are a conduit for discussing and influencing policy as well as for defining the levels of training needed. They create a forum in which the voices of stakeholders are not just heard, but listened to.
GCP supports interested public and private stakeholders from the establishment phase all the way to becoming independent and self-sufficient bodies. Or if they already exist, GCP will support in strengthening their capabilities and connect them to other country platforms. Among a host of other activities, this may include creating a proper secretariat and governance set-up, stakeholder engagement, developing a National Sustainability Curriculum (NSC), and assessing areas for further support and focus.
